Brazil and Australia to go head to head as part of preparations for the Rio 2016 Olympics.
Australia Westfield Matildas and Brazil will play an international friendly match on Saturday 23 July at Estádio Presidente Vargas at 4pm local time.
The Brazilian Football Confederation announced the match which will be serve as great preparations for both Australia and Brazil who are competing in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games women’s football tournament.
Australia Westfield Matildas are hoping to become the first Australian team to win a football medal at the Games.
In the last meeting between Australia and Brazil, the Westfield Matildas earned a historic 1-0 win over the Brazilians in the Round of 16 match at the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2015.
At this summer’s Olympics, Australia are in Group F alongside Canada, Germany and Zimbabwe whilst Brazil are in Group E with China PR, Sweden and South Africa. The women’s football tournament kicks off on Wednesday 3 August with Sweden v South Africa, see all the Rio 2016 Olympic women’s football fixtures.
