Manchester City Women cruised into the second round of the UEFA Women’s Champions League after a 3-0 victory at the Academy Stadium winning 6-0 on aggregate over Austrian Champions SKN St Polten.

Liverpool Ladies cruise to victory over Sheffield FC

Liverpool Ladies cruised to a 6-0 victory over Sheffield FC Ladies in Group One North in the FA Women’s Continental Tyres Cup in Widnes on Wednesday evening.

Liverpool took the lead on nine minutes as Caroline Weir was played in by a superb Alex Greenwood pass and she stayed composed to slot the ball past the onrushing Danielle Gibbons and into the net.

Greenwood could have doubled the home sides lead on sixteen minutes as her freekick from 30 yards out beat Gibbons but she was denied as the ball struck the post before bouncing away to safety. Read the rest of this entry →

Manchester City Women trained with a full available squad on Wednesday morning ahead of the Uefa Womens Champions league first round second leg tie with St Polten on Thursday evening.

City will however be without Pauline Bremer who suffered a broken leg in Saturdays WSL victory away to Everton.

Arsenal Women fall to defeat at Manchester City

Arsenal Women fell to a 5-2 defeat away to Manchester City at the Academy stadium on a rainy Saturday afternoon.

It was the home side who started the better and created the first opportunity inside two minutes when Nikita Parris latched on to a Izzy Christiansen through ball but she saw her effort sail just wide of the upright.

Reading claim victory at Liverpool

Reading Women claimed a 3-0 victory away to Liverpool Ladies on Friday evening at the Select Security stadium in Widnes.

Liverpool came into the game of the back of a derby victory last week whereas the Royals lost 1-0 at home to Sunderland on matchday one.

It was Reading who came close to breaking the deadlock on five minutes as Sophie Ingle blocked a Remi Allen shot before the ball rebounded back out to her before she fired the ball back into Jo Potter before her header crashed off the woodwork and bounced away from goal. Match report: Liverpool claim derby victory

Liverpool Ladies claimed a 2-0 win over Merseyside rivals Everton Ladies at the Select Security stadium in Widnes on Friday evening thanks to goals from Natasha Harding and substitute Niamh Charles.

Liverpool created the first clear cut chance of the game as on 9 minutes as Caroline Weir whipped in a fantastic cross for Bethany England but she flicked her effort just wide of the target.

It was all Liverpool in the opening stages as Alex Greenwood burst into the box before her cross was well blocked by Blues captain Danielle Turner from the resulting corner Gemma Bonner latched on to the ball but her header lacked power and was eventually cleared. Read the rest of this entry →

Northern Ireland missed out on a World Cup qualifier with England after falling to a 6-0 defeat to Germany on Monday evening if Northern Ireland had bettered Scotland’s goal difference they would have set up the historical tie.

Germany took the lead inside five minutes as Lauren Perry made a fine save to deny Kristin Kogel the ball rebounding out to Klara Buhl and she made no mistake in tucking the ball into the net.

Match report: England crash out of U19 Euros

England’s Uefa Euro under 19 championship tournament ended after a 1-0 defeat to France at the Ballymena showgrounds thanks to a late Lina Boussaha goal.

France had the first chance of note on 13 minutes as Sarah Galera slammed her free-kick of the wall after Chloe Peplow had brought down Sana Daoudi.

Taylor books England’s place in last four

Jodie Taylor proved to be England’s hero as they defeated France for the first time in 43 years in a tight contest on Sunday evening.

It was the Lionesses who started the better of the two and it was Taylor who created the first chance as she skipped around the French defence on five minutes but fired wide of the target.
