Manchester City brush away Sunderland

Manchester City claimed a 3-0 victory over Sunderland on a beautiful Wednesday night at the Academy stadium.

Manchester City started the game the brighter of the sides creating the first opportunity inside five minutes as Georgia Stanway drove from deep before firing her effort wide of the target when she should have tested Sunderland keeper Rachel Laws.

However, the Blues did take the lead on 13 minutes as Stanway fired into the net after some neat play from the home side as Kiera Walsh pulled the ball back for her before her shot went into the net via the post. Read the rest of this entry →

Liverpool defender Alex Greenwood has been called into the England Women’s squad to face Wales and Bosnia & Herzegovina.

Manchester City claimed a 2-0 victory over Linkoping in the First leg of their Uefa Women’s Champions League Quarter Final at the Academy Stadium to give them a healthy lead as they travel to Sweden next week.

Nick Cushing: ‘Steph will play tomorrow if she can get back to full fitness we are trying are best’

Manchester City women manager Nick Cushing was in a positive mood ahead of Wednesday’s UEFA Womens Champions League quarter final first leg clash with Swedish side Linkopings.

Cushing confirmed that everybody that was available for Sundays postponed match against Sunderland are still available but says captain Steph Houghton may feature “Steph will play tomorrow if she can get back to full fitness we are trying are best, but we will talk with the coaches and the medical staff tomorrow before making a final decision”. Match report | Five Star Liverpool progress in Continental Cup

Liverpool progressed to the Quarter finals of the FA Women’s Continental Tyres Cup on Wednesday evening at Widnes after a 5-1 thrashing of Aston Villa Ladies.

The Reds started the brighter and could have been ahead inside the first minute as Ashley Hodson crossed for Niamh Charles, but she fired her effort wide from close range.

Arsenal women’s manager to leave

Arsenal Women manager Pedro Martinez Losa is set to leave after three years in charge of the Women’s Super League One club it was revealed on Tuesday evening.

Spaniard Losa, 41, who arrived in September 2014 has been a very successful appointment during his time at the club leading the Gunners’ 2016 Women’s FA Cup triumph and won the 2015 WSL Continental Cup

Arsenal who currently lie sixth in the WSL 1 table, have picked up four points from their first three games of the 2017-18 season.

They also finished third, and unbeaten, in the eight-game Spring Series.

Manchester City Women cruised into the second round of the UEFA Women’s Champions League after a 3-0 victory at the Academy Stadium winning 6-0 on aggregate over Austrian Champions SKN St Polten.

Liverpool Ladies cruise to victory over Sheffield FC

Liverpool Ladies cruised to a 6-0 victory over Sheffield FC Ladies in Group One North in the FA Women’s Continental Tyres Cup in Widnes on Wednesday evening.

Liverpool took the lead on nine minutes as Caroline Weir was played in by a superb Alex Greenwood pass and she stayed composed to slot the ball past the onrushing Danielle Gibbons and into the net.

Arsenal Women fell to a 5-2 defeat away to Manchester City at the Academy stadium on a rainy Saturday afternoon.

It was the home side who started the better and created the first opportunity inside two minutes when Nikita Parris latched on to a Izzy Christiansen through ball but she saw her effort sail just wide of the upright.
