Concacaf U-17 Women’s Championship to Resume June 6-12 in Bradenton, Florida

Concacaf has announced that the 2018 Concacaf Women’s Under-17 Championship will resume next month at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. The nine remaining matches are set to be played from June 6-12.

The competition was originally scheduled for April 19 to 29 at the National Football Stadium in Managua, Nicaragua, but safety concerns led to cancellation of the event on April 22. At the time of cancellation, the USA and the rest of Group B had played just one match, while each team in Group A had completed two games. Read the rest of this entry →

Canada begins journey to Uruguay 2018 at the Concacaf Women’s Under-17 Championship

Canada will open the 2018 Concacaf Women’s Under-17 Championship this Friday in a Group B match against Caribbean opponent Bermuda. The Friday 20 April match is the first of three group matches in five days for the young Canadian team in Managua, Nicaragua.

2018 Concacaf Women’s Championship to be Held in Cary, N.C., Edinburg, Texas and Frisco, Texas

The 2018 Concacaf Women’s Championship, which will qualify three teams to the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France and a fourth into a two-game playoff with the third-place team from South America, will be played in three host cities: Cary, N.C., Edinburg, Texas, and Frisco, Texas, home of the new National Soccer Hall of Fame, which is set to open just three days after the completion of the qualifying tournament.

On March 23, Concacaf announced that the tournament would be played in the United States and would take place from Oct. 4-17. The competition will feature eight countries divided into two groups of four. Despite winning its group with nine points and tying Mexico in regulation play of the Semi-Final, Canada’s FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup aspirations came to an end against Haiti as the Caribbean nation topped Canada 1:0 in the 2018 CONCACAF Women’s U-20 Championship to claim the final FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup spot.
