The Women’s Super League in England is now in an extended break until September 2017, as the football calendar has changed so that it will become a winter league and run in tandem with men’s football. Orlando Pride Forward Jasmyne Spencer to Join Canberra United

Orlando Pride forward Jasmyne Spencer will return to Australia for her third consecutive season in the Westfield W-League, joining Canberra United after spending her first two seasons at Sydney FC. In addition, midfielder Sam Witteman was loaned to Apollon Limassol, joining the Cypriot First Division side for a short stint.

Spencer, 26, made her first appearance in the W-League in the 2014-15 season with Sydney FC and would go on to be named the club’s Player of the Year. After scoring eight goals in her first season, the Bay Shore, N.Y. native returned to Sydney for the 2015-16 season and helped lead the team to the Grand Final, falling to Melbourne City FC in the championship match.

Spencer, who is currently in contract discussions with Orlando for the 2017 season, was selected with the fourth overall pick in the 2015 NWSL Expansion Draft and scored four goals in her first season with the Pride, including a stoppage-time winner on June 23 against Houston. Seattle Reign FC Transfers Kim Little to Arsenal Ladies FC

Seattle Reign FC announced today the transfer of midfielder Kim Little to Arsenal Ladies FC of The FA Women’s Super League (FAWSL) in England. Per club and league policies, terms of the deal and the transfer fee were not disclosed.

Little will join Arsenal in January 2017 on a multi-year contract. Little previously played for Arsenal Ladies FC of the FAWSL from 2008 to 2013.

“Kim was presented with an unbelievable offer by Arsenal, so given our respect and appreciation for Kim, we felt it was right to let her return home to pursue the opportunity,” said Seattle Reign FC general manager and head coach Laura Harvey. “She is an extraordinary person and player, so while we hate to lose her, we are really happy for her and support her decision.” Read the rest of this entry →
