Canada to play Olympic Champion Germany in April

As Canada Soccer’s Women’s National Team gear up for the Bronze Medal Celebration Match against Mexico in Vancouver 4 February, Canada Soccer is already planning for its next match, announcing the team will play Olympic gold medalist Germany in Erfurt, Germany on 9 April 2017.

Canada and Germany clashed twice at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, with Canada winning the first encounter in its third group stage match 2-1, and Germany edging out Canada in the semi-final to play Sweden for gold while Canada went on to defeat Brazil in the bronze medal match.

Canada’s come-from-behind group stage win over Germany, its first-ever result against the European champions, continues to feature in the public’s memory of the Rio Games and for Head Coach John Herdman, it’s his favourite moment of the tournament. Read the rest of this entry →

Netherlands Women’s National team play two Friendly’s in Spain

The Netherlands Women’s National team play a training camp in Spain the team consists of 25 players. Dates from 16th to 25th January 2017 staying at La Manga and during the training camp will play two games.

Republic of Ireland Women’s National Team Head Coach Sue Ronan marked the end of her six-year tenure with an impressive 2-1 win over the Basque Country.

Player of the match Leanne Kiernan, who scored a hat-trick for Shelbourne Ladies in the Women’s Senior Cup final at the Aviva Stadium, scored her first international goal to win the game for the Girls in Green.

Republic of Ireland WNT Head Coach Sue Ronan is ready for ’emotional’ final game v Basque Country

Republic of Ireland Women’s National Team Head Coach Sue Ronan is set to welcome her squad to her final camp as Head Coach tomorrow.

The WNT face the Basque Country in an international friendly at the Tallaght Stadium on Saturday, November 26th, with kick-off at 3.30pm.

It is set to be Ronan’s final game in charge of the Women’s National Team as she steps down after the game to fully focus on her role as Head of Women’s Football at the Football Association of Ireland.

Republic of Ireland WNT Head Coach Sue Ronan names her squad for Basque Country test

Republic of Ireland Women’s National Team Head Coach Sue Ronan has selected her final squad ahead of the international friendly against the Basque Country.

Ronan, who has managed the WNT for six years, will oversee her final game on Saturday, November 26th before concentrating on her role as the Head of Women’s Football within the FAI.

Match report: USWNT cruises to 8-1 win against Romania in front of 16,425 fans

The U.S. Women’s National Team put on a show in its penultimate game of 2016, defeating Romania 8-1 in front of 16,425 fans at Avaya Stadium. It was the first meeting between the countries in women’s soccer.

The U.S. put on a dominant display from start to finish that was highlighted by forward Christen Press scoring her fourth career hat trick. Alex Morgan replaced Press at halftime and scored two goals while also seeing her well-struck penalty kick spectacularly saved by Roxana Oprea in the 64th minute.

Twenty-eight-year-old forward Jessica McDonald earned her first career cap, while Morgan Brian scored her first goal of 2016 on a diving header. Tobin Heath scored the USA’s second goal and forced a Romania own goal in the final minute of regulation time. Read the rest of this entry →
