USWNT Will Play October Friendlies Against Korea Republic in New Orleans and Cary, N.C.

USA Women’s National Team will face the Korea Republic in two friendly matches, the first on Oct. 19 (7 p.m. CT; FS1) at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, and then again on Oct. 22 at Sahlen’s Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C. (2 p.m. ET; ESPN).

The matches help fill out the USA’s fall schedule, which will also include previously announced games against New Zealand on Sept. 15 in Commerce City, Colo. (8 p.m. MT; ESPN2) and on Sept. 19 in Cincinnati (7:30 p.m. ET; FS1). The USA will also face Canada on Nov. 9 in Vancouver (7 p.m. PT; ESPN2) and again on Nov. 12 in the United States at a venue to be announced soon. Read the rest of this entry →

USWNT Will Face New Zealand on Sept. 15 in Denver and Sept. 19 in Cincinnati.

Last Match Against the Football Ferns Was in the Opening Game of 2016 Olympics

USA will take on New Zealand this fall in two friendly matches with the first on September 15 (8 p.m. MT; ESPN2) at Dick’s Sports Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado, followed by a second game on September 19 (7:30 p.m. ET; FS1) at Nippert Stadium on the campus of the University of Cincinnati.

The U.S. Women last played in Colorado on June 2, 2016 in the first of a two-game set of friendlies against Japan. The teams played to a wild 3-3 draw in front of a sell-out crowd at DSGP that saw the USA go down 2-0 after 22 minutes, only to roar back and take a 3-2 lead heading into stoppage time on goals in each half from Alex Morgan and a dramatic 89th minute header from hometown hero Lindsey Horan. The referee added four minutes to the end of the second half and Japan equalized in the third minute of stoppage time. Louise Quinn urges Republic of Ireland to get positive result in tonight’s international friendly against Scotland.

Republic of Ireland defender Louise Quinn believes the competition for places is a great thing ahead of the international friendly against Scotland tomorrow night.

The WNT look to extend their impressive 2017 form against Scotland on Friday night, with kick-off at 7.30pm, at Stark’s Park, Kirkcaldy.

Ireland WNT Head Coach Colin Bell wants positives to continue in ‘toughest test’

Republic of Ireland Women’s National Team Head Coach Colin Bell believes Scotland poses the ‘toughest test’ of the year.

Since taking over as Head Coach of the WNT, Bell has enjoyed a great run of form which has seen his side lose just once and keep five clean sheets in just six games.

The only defeat of the year came in the 3rd/4th place play-off in the Cyprus Cup to a strong Korea DPR side ranked 8th in the world and whilst they’ve claimed victories over Slovakia, Wales and Czech Republic. Read the rest of this entry →

Fiercest rivalry in women’s sport: Canada Soccer’s Women’s National Team to face USA in Vancouver in November

It will be a clash between arch rivals when Canada hosts USA at BC Place at 19:00 PT (22:00 PT) on 9 November in the first of two matches between the North American foes, with a second match set for 12 November in the USA.

With Canada determined to reach the top of the FIFA world rankings, the battle between the world’s top ranked USA and fourth ranked Canada will be must-see matches. Individual tickets for the match in Vancouver go on sale 5 July at 10:00 PT (13:00 ET) via Ticketmaster.ca and group tickets are available now. Brazil women’s national team head coach Emily Lima has announced her squad to take on Germany in an international friendly match on 4 July.

New to the squad are Luana, from Avaldsnes (Norway), Ludmila from São José, and Kamilla from Iranduba. Luana and Ludmila played base competitions for the Brazilian National Team in 2012 and 2014, respectively whilst Kamila has her first opportunity to wear the Brazilian shirt. Canada Women’s National Team provided the hometown crowd much to cheer about in an impressive 6:0 win over Costa Rica in Toronto. Deanne Rose, Janine Beckie (three), and Jordyn Huitema (two) were the goalscorers in front of the Sunday afternoon crowd of 20,628 at BMO Field.

“That’s nine goals over two games, so we are really happy,” said John Herdman, Head Coach of the Women’s National Team.”We also had a clean sheet, so those are all the things that you look for as a coach through a game, he added. “We put in a structure in the last four years to ensure that the right players are coming through at the right times.
