Forgive me, and direct me to a proper forum, if this issue was already raised.
I was surprised to see the FIFA president Blatter came on scene to hand medal to the Nadeshikos. What was more surprising is that stadium crowd booed to his name? Why?
Is he a villain in eyes of British soccer fans? Or, was it that the highest official should present to the champions, not runners-up? Or, it was not he who was booed but something else? Or, may be, it was not boo at all, but cheering?
Educate me please!

I will try to record all games aired here which I'm happy to share.

Any news on live on-line broadcasting of the U-20 tournament?

Permalink Reply by Ken Suzuki on August 13, 2012 at 15:00 Sure. This tournament is 8/19 - 9/8, so the DVDs will depart on 9/9 or 9/10 if there's no problem. Or, if the TV station airs so many games I can split the entire lot and the first batch will go around 9/1 rather than wait until all is done. Just email me to give the shipping adress.

Permalink Reply by Ken Suzuki on August 13, 2012 at 15:30 Of course that's the best that can happen. But I know none for this tournament. Anyone can educate me if there is one.

Permalink Reply by Atsushi Tateno on August 14, 2012 at 8:54 This compelled me to sign up... Sepp Blatter was booed by the British public because he is seen as complicit in the alleged corruption that pervades the upper echelons of FIFA. It's probably a British thing because many of the allegations were brought to light by the BBC's Panorama TV programme.
It's particularly relevant now because in July this year, a report was recently published by a Swiss court that proves that Joao Havelange, Blatter's predecessor, and Ricardo Teixeira took millions in bribes and that Blatter has known about this for at least a decade. Rather than do anything about it, FIFA paid 2.5 million Swiss Francs (about the same in $), settling out of court on the proviso that the criminal charges against FIFA and its representatives were dropped and that the findings would not be made public.
When asked about this, Sepp Blatter replied: "Back then, such payments could even be deducted from tax as a business expense... You can't judge the past on the basis of today's standards. Otherwise it would end up with moral justice."
So, for Sepp Blatter, bribery is only wrong because it's a crime by law and he really doesn't want moral justice...
Permalink Reply by David Peak on August 14, 2012 at 10:24 All the above comments regarding Blatter are pretty much correct. From a British perspective he is seen as both arrogant and corrupt – and who also appears to run world football as his own personal domain.
Also from the British perspective (and this is maybe not flattering to us), is the fact that although Football is the pre-eminent world game, we still view it as our own game. And a game in which we now have very little influence. So, resentment against Sepp on quite a few levels.

I totally agree and thanks a lot, Atsushi for exposing with full clarity the problem. It's not only an English affair because everybody in the world knows - or should - about it today. As I wrote before there were several reports, journalist inquiries, TV documentaries. Franco-German TV Channel ARTE showed a documentary about the real face of FIFA.
Sepp Blatter is a despicable man, as Joao Havelange was before him.
