Maribel Dominguez scored three times -- twice in the first half -- and Mexico beat Guatemala 5-0 to open Group B play Friday night at the CONCACAF Olympic women's qualifying.
Dominguez, who had scored 67 goals in 90 games coming into the tournament, scored in the 24th, 44th and 67th minutes minutes to pace a dominant Mexican side against a young Guatemalan team that started five teenagers and only three players over the age of 20.
Seeking their second trip to the Olympics and first since Greece in 2004, Mexico also had goals by Marylin Diaz and Dinora Garza to dispatch the Chapines.

The United States went ahead 38 seconds after kickoff and overwhelmed the Dominican Republic 14-0 Friday night in a record-setting victory in CONCACAF Olympic women's qualifying.
Abby Wambach scored her126th career goal on the United States first push in the offensive half and added another in the 19th minute. Amy Rodriguez, who entered the game to start the second half, scored five times and Heather O'Reilly had three.
Carli Lloyd, Rachel Buehler, Tobin Heath and Lauren Cheney also tallied for the Americans, who are seeking a fifth straight trip to the Olympics.
