CONCACAF Cup 2010

The tournament will be played October 28-November 8 and send the winner and runner-up to the 2011 Women's World Cup in Germany. The third-place finisher will face the fifth-place team from Europe for an additional berth.

CONCACAF has staged a women's nations championship since 1991, first called the CONCACAF Women's Championship and then renamed the Women's Gold Cup in 2000. Initially held as a biennial event, it was altered to a quadrennial championship after 2002 to be in line with the Women's World Cup - www.concacaf.com

Good to see the team is able to pull things together. Kudos to Costa Rica for playing well in two tough matches against the USA. That second goal was just sweet - great service and perfect timing. Will need more like that against Italy.

After defeating Costa Rica 3-0 for 3rd place, the USA Will now face Italy in Padova on Nov. 20 and at Toyota Park Bridgeview, Ill., on Nov. 27 With Aggregate Goals Deciding Final Berth to 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
