Crisis at the champions LDB FC Malmö is even worse than previously disclosed

Expressen (Swedish newspaper) writes today

Malmo in trouble: "Do we go bankrupt"

The crisis in the champions LDB FC Malmö is even worse than previously disclosed. Evening Post can today reveal that more and speak to the club's chairman Cecilia Tholse, 38, leaves at the annual meeting February 28. While crawling bankruptcy closer. - Do I look like today in a month we look at dismantling LDP says Tholse.

Two straight gold in the women and the quarterfinals of the Champions League does not help - Malmo club has virtually no money to run the business. LDP had the night before a board meeting to discuss the crisis situation and tomorrow club management meet with the City of Malmö City. It becomes a crucial meeting. Currently, the last hope. - Our location is so serious that unless the municipality will help us, I think it will be difficult to implement a fotbollsår 2012, says Cecilia Tholse to the Evening Post. - If nothing happens, I think we will go bankrupt or shall close the operation at the elite level. You cannot run anything unless there is money. Salaries have to be paid. Then it will be to save what can be saved.

"Nobody wants to pay"

How disappointed are you if you get an answer by the City?

- This is the curtain down. Then we have not succeeded. We have a product where all applaud our successes but nobody wants to pay. Then it is not worthwhile to have this anymore. LDP has also turned to Malmo FF. Two weeks ago they sent a letter to the Club and expressed the wish to re-establish cooperation. But MFF Chairman Håkan Jeppsson told Sydsvenskan that he did not believe that it is entitled to re-merge unions. - If I understand Jeppsson right In its statement, it is not an issue but I have not received any official response from him, says Cecilia Tholse. The financial panic mode wears the LDP's board. Cecilia Tholse was elected in a year but today it is nothing to indicate a continuation. - Right now I am very, very tired.

Crap.

She hit the nail on the head. It doesn't seem to matter where in the world a women's elite level exists, no one wants to pay. We all want to watch and we all applaud the effort and good result, but that can't pay salaries. We, the fans, have to do more. We have to support with our money, whether it be attending matches or buying from sponsors. We also have to be vocal about what we want, what we demand,  from the media coverage, the pundits and the teams themselves. It's a sad day when any team has to shut down. I sincerely hope the city can help and if not that the players can move forward .
