OL
the club
OL annihilated Yzeure to get into the Coupe de France final. The passing the midfield control was excellent. As long as that little triangle of Abily Sommer and Schelin keeps moving around, one touch passing, finding the open space, OL is a successful. Thomis will most likely start largely because she will not be in the UEFA CL final for red card accumulation, in the matches against Turbine Potsdam.
strategy
As always OL will work through the midfield. They will probably try to start the game early, catch Montpellier with the jitters. Thomis will more than likely test Montpellier's backline early. OL will try to play 90 minutes as best as they can. Renard and others in the backline will try to push up high and allow OL's midfield to get closer to goal. Attack and attack is the strategy.
Montpellier
the club
This is turning out to be a big season for Montpellier mens and womens. The men have an opportunity, even with the recent draw to top Ligue 1 and the women have a chance to lift this trophy. Montpellier have a direct player in Delie but the midfield of Montpellier as proof through through their match with PSG is not strong enough to retain or hold possession against OL. But, Montpellier do have the right pieces to do damage.
strategy
I think unlike against PSG, Montpellier needs to go through Asseyi. She offers that singular skill that can cut into the backline of OL. I like her odds against Renard , Bompastor, or others in OL's backline. The long ball will not work on OL. Meilleroux will be vital , the midfield battle will be between her and Abily. She has the skills but the rest of Montpellier's midfield must support her.
Prediction:
I say a 2-1 OL victory if Montpellier have the right strategy. But, if Montpellier play the way they did against PSG against OL it could be 6-0. This has the possibilities of being an early classic. Can't wait. It will be on France 4 folks, so it should be around the feedverse and will be on TV in FRance.
