Look how low Bayern munich finally placed, frankfurt are a better side and you have to wonder about next season in the frauen-bundesliga. Mbabi has to leave.

Bayern Munich won the Cup.  It has often been said, though he never said it himself, that the great Brian Clough regretted never winning the FA Cup. Of course, all managers wants to win the Cup so Brian is not the only one not to have been thus blessed, and the FA Cup is the greatest of them all.  In short, if Bayern´s leadership put their muscle behind their ladies division, great things will happen. Maybe Uli Hoeness can persuade Magdalena Neuner to try out soccer?

Wolfsburg´s headache will be their age structure but if they can manage it in the short term they stand on the cusp of great things. VW, obviously, sponsors the club, but it does not seem to have originated with the company unlike Bayer Leverkusen and PSV Eindhoven.

Go, wolves, go go go!

Congrats to Turbine! They played well and Lady-luck was on their side.

Bayern will not allow turbine potsdam, and frankfurt and wolfsburg to have the symbolic womens teams anymore, now that womens soccer is growing

In order to grow the game, ladies who play soccer must improve their ball-control skills and the tempo must be faster. Even the Lyon-Frankfurt CL final left a whole lot to be desired.

The top men´s clubs are, well understood, totally professional these days and the men earn a fortune and have longer playing career than the women. Nevertheless, why go and watch an inferior product?  Given that women soccer players seem to be prepared to play for peanuts, sponsoring a ladies´ team is cheap. Somehow, the connection has to be made in each country and for a couple of ladies´ teams in each country.

The Wolverhampton Wanderers were a great team from time to time. Although having followed English soccer for longer than I care to remember, I do not have a truly favourite English team that I feel passionate about.  Seeing that the great Bill Shankly is alleged to have said that football was not a matter of life and death but more important than that, maybe I am just a fake?

I am not persuaded that ladies´ football has time. The next 2, max 4 years are make-or-break.  Maybe it is because women´s soccer essentially is a middle-class game, they expect to have a divine right to play even when only 200 turn up to watch?

We can expect to see great improvement in Germany because the Germans are stung by not only doing badly in the World cup on home turf but also thereby not qualifying for the Olympics. They must be seething, and one imagines that wealthy teams like Bayern, Schalke and Dortmund have agreed to support the ladies game. Almost certainly a side-effect will be that the teams will voluntary limit the number foreign players in their squads.

As for the USA, the NBA has been subsidizing the WNBA for years now. The NBA is wealthier than the English Premier League. The teams in the WNBA are limping along and many of the ladies play for Russian teams in the off season to earn a decent living.

Professional ladies´ football does not have time.  It needs for women to go along to matches to support their sisters for the next couple of seasons so the gates become bigger and more sponsors join the fray. Ladies who play soccer need the support and loyalty from their sisters.

@Lars You are right, urgency is needed but I don't think witht he economy you can rush things. I made an article about PSG's moves. i think that migth do well to advance the situation in UEFA for womens soccer if doneright.
