In 1990 the German Football Association (DFB) created the German Women's Bundesliga, based on the model of the men's Bundesliga. It was first played with north and south divisions, but in 1997 the groups were merged to form a uniform league. The league currently consists of twelve teams and the seasons usually last from late summer to the end of spring with a break in the winter.

Comment by Women's Soccer United on May 13, 2013 at 14:13 @Gromit, oh ok sorry I most likely read it wrong, I am too angry about the French game lol!
That's a good point, they really needed to get a win to be sure of the 2nd spot.
I think we mentioned this before... But if Wolfsburg win the Champions League will that then allow Frankfurt to qualify?
Comment by Gromit on May 13, 2013 at 11:51 @Gina - Thanks for the info about Angerer.... No, I badly expressed myself, sorry : Smicer was bitter about the lack of respect towards herSELF (not about Natze).
FFC couldn't play for a draw since a draw combined with a very likely Potsdam's win at Gütersloh, send Turbine in C1, as well as a loss. But I already noticed in former FFC's match that Maro played very, very low.
Comment by Women's Soccer United on May 13, 2013 at 11:36 @Gromit - I had a look on the Official Frankfurt website and in the match preview it says that Nadine Angerer is a doubt to play because of a muscle problem in her right thigh. So I guess the decision was made on the day to leave her out :/
So, Frankfurt were playing for a draw do you think? If that's the case, I think it is a negative way to approach the match and obviously did not work out to be the best tactics.
It's sad to hear there was a lack of respect towards Natze after all she has done.
Comment by Women's Soccer United on May 13, 2013 at 11:30 Nice pic @Dernhelm
Comment by Gromit on May 13, 2013 at 11:30 Does someone know why Natze didn't play yesterday ? Smicer said after the match she was very bitter about the lack of respect of the club towards her on the day. The divorce between FFC's fans and the club's boss, Dietrich ("SiDi") should keep growing, since he said that his intentions remained the same. Other FFC's senior players (Garefrekes, Bartusiak) had very hard words about what happened.
Yesterday, Marozsan played as a defender ! This team was a waste from A to Z. I'm quite happy to see Kiddy Saki going away from this desperate case.

Comment by Sophie van der Heijden on May 12, 2013 at 17:08 Don't wanna b*tch around here to the FFC Frankfurt fans but I'm so happy right now. And yes, if we ever bump into eachother during a match, tournament, whatever I'll buy a drink. That's a promise.
Comment by Women's Soccer United on May 12, 2013 at 16:39 Turbine Potsdam finish 2nd in the Frauen Bundesliga and claim the Champions League spot after Frankfurt were defeated 2-1 by Bayern München!
