In 1990 the German Football Association (DFB) created the German Women's Bundesliga, based on the model of the men's Bundesliga. It was first played with north and south divisions, but in 1997 the groups were merged to form a uniform league. The league currently consists of twelve teams and the seasons usually last from late summer to the end of spring with a break in the winter.

Comment by Gromit on May 7, 2013 at 22:04 Disappointing... TV-DFB chosed to broadcast Live Wolfsburg-Bad Neuenahr on sunday (12th may), when the most important match (decisive for the C1) will be FFC Frankfurt-Bayern München ! What a bad choice...
Comment by Sophie van der Heijden on May 6, 2013 at 7:07 If Munich beats Frankfurt next week (draw would be fine too) and Potsdam wins their match, I'll buy you all a drink :)
Comment by Gromit on May 5, 2013 at 15:16 Yes, I agree, it talks plenty about cultural differences !
Comment by Ken Suzuki on May 5, 2013 at 15:09 Interesting, because we think it is kind to a loser NOT to interview him, at least in public or immediately after the match. Another benefit of seeing what other nations do!
Comment by Gromit on May 5, 2013 at 15:01 @Ken : in French, we say "Honneur aux vaincus !", that is "Honors to the losers !". It's a tradition to let those who lost passing or being interviewed first. I suppose it's the same in Germany, maybe in all Europe...
Comment by Gromit on May 5, 2013 at 14:59 Full-time results :
Turbine Potsdam 2-0 Wolfsburg
(Anodonova, Bremer)
Bad Neuenahr 0-1 1 FFC Frankfurt
(Garefrekes)
Bayern Munchen 2-2 FCR Duisburg

Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 FSV Gütersloh
(Weber, Linden, Knaak)
Essen-Schonebeck 2-1 Sindelfingen
(Wolf, Dalhmann / Schneider)
Comment by Ken Suzuki on May 5, 2013 at 14:53 They do it again! Last week, too, the coach of Wolfsburg is interviewed first even if his team lost. Interesting! You never see such scene with Nadeshiko League.
Comment by Gromit on May 5, 2013 at 14:35 GOAL Frankfurt ! Garefrekes 71'
Bad Neuenahr 0-1 FFC Frankfurt
Frankfurt is second again, one pont ahead Potsdam !
Comment by Gromit on May 5, 2013 at 14:11 I don't know if it can be said "half-serious" (that wouldn't be very German ! ;) but certainly less motivated than Postdam who MUST win its two last matches, hoping that Frankfurt doesn't do the same, in order to go to C1.
Comment by Ken Suzuki on May 5, 2013 at 14:07 Thanks, @Gromit. So, Wolfsburg is only "half-serious" about this match....
