In 1990 the German Football Association (DFB) created the German Women's Bundesliga, based on the model of the men's Bundesliga. It was first played with north and south divisions, but in 1997 the groups were merged to form a uniform league. The league currently consists of twelve teams and the seasons usually last from late summer to the end of spring with a break in the winter.

Comment by Hiroshi Umezu on Wednesday It seems that Asuna Tanaka has signed a two-year contract with 1. FFC Frankfurt. She is scheduled to head to Germany in mid-August.

Comment by Gromit on June 12, 2013 at 15:11 I've just tried to leave Asuna a message on her blog but I'm afraid I clicked on the wrong button.....
Comment by Hiroshi Umezu on June 12, 2013 at 14:57 Nahomi Kawasumi said on her blog, "Asuna Tanaka will learn a good deal in a foreign country. She will make the next game her final game at INAC Kobe Leonessa, and will transfer to 1. FFC Frankfurt. Please give her encouraging blog comments."

Comment by Women's Soccer United on June 12, 2013 at 14:45 I am pleased as I will be able to see Tanaka play live on DFB channel next season :-)
Comment by Gromit on June 12, 2013 at 14:42 Oh come on, Hiroshi, there's no need to apologize for anything :o) And thank you for all your valuable infos.
Comment by Hiroshi Umezu on June 12, 2013 at 14:32 I absolutely agree with you, @Gromit. I really must apologize to you for this matter.
Comment by Gromit on June 12, 2013 at 14:26 @Hiroshi - Well, it's not a race to the scoop, is it ? ;o) You were the first to make the announce about Asuna's move, hence my answer which seems a bit strange now maybe. The best way - imho - is not to delete and rewrite as you did, but just post another message with the information complement. Because if we all do the same (deleting), that would force the others to delete in their turn and everything will become crazy :o))

I'm sorry that I needed to republish my comment. =(
Comment by Hiroshi Umezu on June 12, 2013 at 13:03 According to INAC Kobe Leonessa's website, defensive midfielder Asuna Tanaka has completed a permanent move to 1. FFC Frankfurt. She is a graduate of Tokiwagi Gakuen High School, and previously played for Tasaki Perure FC. She is 25 years old. Japanese soccer fans can't hide thier shock right now....
Comment by Gromit on June 12, 2013 at 12:46 You cut the grass under my feet @Hiroshi, I was just coming to inform about it ;o)
Yes, it's officially announced today on FFC Frankfurt site : http://www.ffc-frankfurt.de/c/cms/front_content.php?client=1&la...
That's a good move for Asuna, to the best foreign championship at the present time. She will replace Saki as the second Nadeshiko of the team, joining Kozue Ando who arrived a little earlier, following Duisburg bankrupt.
Good luck to her and more sushi to be eaten in Frankfurt ! ;o)
