Comment by Josina Tellie on April 6, 2011 at 14:22 In South Africa there is a grassroot girls development program running for 8 - 19 years old called Dlala Ntombazana( Play girls) under the SAFA Tshwane Region, not only do they develop football skills for girls but also bringing lifeskills in all programs and ournaments, developing youth leaders, and being the voice in educating their families and communities about the fight against HIV/AIDS, the Program started in 2005 with 34 schools, 318 girls and has grown to over 250 schools with 3000 girls playing soccer up to date. they have a very popular tournament named Cup of Dreams for U/17 girls annually, this is the 4th year running.

It will be great if we can build a large source of information for girls looking to get involved as well as hearing from experiences of those already involved.
Comment by Renegades Of Girls Soccer on April 5, 2011 at 19:15 Great timing for this discussion forum. Once we move on into adulthood how quickly we forget where it all started from grassroots "youth soccer".
We as adult have the privilege of creating a captivating, athletic... the next generation global girl soccer players. Simply by laying out a path that you would personally appreciate - knowing what you know now from your past positive/negative experiences - going forward to empower youth girl's soccer future.
Remember the saying "there is no I in team" and M, E, me does not count :)
