Brazil finished Group E runners-up after a defeat to Great Britain, they now face world champions Nadeshiko Japan in the London 2012 Olympic women's football quarter-final on Friday 3rd August 2012 (17:00 local time).

The pair played each other in the Women's Kirin Challenge Cup earlier this year and it was Japan who earned the comfortable 4-1 victory.

The Nadeshiko's performance at group stage, seems like we have yet to see them at their full potential. Brazil go into this quarter-final after a 1-0 loss against the host nation Great Britain at Wembley.

More infos about Brazilian's defeat againts GB :
The bus who took the Brazilian team from Cardiff to London broke after 40 minutes drive. Another bus came after... 3 hours of waiting ! But... The driver having done his number of work-hours, he couldn't drive it... So, the Brazilians had to wait for 2 more hours !
Cardiff-London was planned to be done in 3 hours. It took 8 hours...
How to criticize the Japanese who wished to stay where they already were, now ?

It's really, really, really strange and we can understand Brazilians's anger... This story is just unbelievable.

I thought we were discussing Brazil - Japan, not chewing over the past. The past is myself!

I expect Japan to win this game, Nevertheless Brazil has a good chance, even if their team is past its sell-by-date.

This is a more difficult match to call than USA - All Balckettes or Les Pie-bleues - a leather-type.  This could be the upset of the tournament, as the beavers might be the giant killers on the other side.

Yes, probably a tight match. It's that what we expect as spectators, don't we ? A festival of attacks and magic tricks from Marta, Miyama, Christiane, Sawa, Thaïs, Kumagai, Erika...

Everything goes wrong for me in this tournament since I was hoping to have France and Japan (in any order) for Gold and Silver and Brazil for Bronze. But no possible Final between two of those three teams.

I'll support the Nadeshiko but with an immense respect for Brazil.

In the absence of the Swedish ladies, the best final would be France against GB or, failing that, Japan vs GB.

The demented beavers against anyone would be fun too. Beaverettes vs Vikingettes -- how about that?!!?

Expect some offense from these two teams, who have struggled to score since Game 1. (though that was intentional for Japan in game 3 so they wouldn't have to travel to Scotland.) I pick Japan if they can stay organized & control possession like they usually do.

I would like to see the final be USA vs. Japan. And Lars, what do you mean when you said "with the Swedish ladies out?"

If Brazil can get their act together they can win this one,i mean they are playing good football.

Elena my learned friend, I do not understand your question.  I think what I was trying to type was that should the Swedish ladies not get to the final, I would prefer to see France vs GB or Japan vs GB, or, even the Canadian, all for various and different reasons. The safe money is still on USA. Sweden are very much outsiders.

Are they?

Lars, okay, I see that what you said was hypothetical. Too bad the USA and Sweden couldn't both get the gold!
