Canadian head coach John Herdman has announced his squad for the London 2012 Olympic women's football tournament.
Canada qualified for the London 2012 Olympics at the 2012 CONCACAF Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament where they finished runners-up to USA.
Canada's squad includes experienced players with more than 100 international appearances each, Christine Sinclair, Candace Chapman, Diana Matheson, Rhian Wilkinson, Brittany Timko and Karina LeBlanc.
Twelve of Canada's 18 players selected were a part of the Beijing Olympic Women's Football Tournament in 2008. They reached the quarter-final stage only to be knocked out by CONCACAF rival USA.
Canada are in Group F at this year's Olympics and face opponents Japan, Sweden and South Africa. Their opening match is against Japan on Wednesday 25th July 2012, check out the full women's olympic football schedule here.

This seems to be a team at its peak. Let´s hope they can do themselves justice and not suffer severe injuries to critical players, as happened in the world cup last year. Opening against Japan can go either way for both sides, and a draw may not be the best outcome.
At the same time, high time to build for the World Cup in 3 years time. That team has got to get to the final and, preferably, win it!
I haven't been able to find anything confirming his length of contract, but in this article of when he was first appointed head coach they talk of long term plans including the 2015 WWC.

How long is John Herdman signed on for? And is his tenure with the team reliant on performance?
