Four ladies play in Russia, two in Sweden, and one in France, a notable proportion.
Permalink Reply by Gromit on July 7, 2012 at 11:55 Does "Olympic Centre/SP" mean that the concerned players keep not having a proper club and just "belong" to a Brazilian Federation Olympic Centre Traing ?? I noticed that the players are Erika (one of my favourite ones) and Maurine, who both played for Santos FC which closes its feminine football section earlier this year.
I was not able to find on the Net for which teame those two girls play for today.
So, could anyone bring some explanations ?
It is a mixed blessing for a ladies side to belong to a men´s club. Santos is one example; Man Utd is another. When Chelsea cut down funding, John Terry (of all people!) put his hand in his pocket and persuaded some of his team mates also to help keep Chelsea Ladies afloat. The ladies appointed him a their honorary president (maybe it was team mascot but that does not ring true).
It is easy to forget that Marta went as a youngster to play for Umeå in their glory days -- Umeå had won their first CL before she arrived and then took another, plus they played in several finals. Ladies who want to play soccer in Brasil have a tough time. Their men´s side has not been in a World Cup final for 10 years, when they beat Rudi Völler´s weak German side, so the opportunity for their ladies to get recognition would be there -- as in France, for example.
Maybe if FIFA can figure out why professional ladies football has difficulties in both Brasil and USA, maybe we can get ladies´ football into orbit

Don´t know; don´t care, Gromit. Seeing that Brazil has not always done as well as expected, maybe the young lady would prefer to be compared to Sawa, Wombat or Schelin? Is she considering playing for Umeå? Maybe a wealthy German club will snap her up? What are your thoughts?

Permalink Reply by Gromit on July 11, 2012 at 19:12 I have no idea, I never heard of her before. But if she's really as good as Marta... well, the real Marta still being there, Brazil could be powerful... But as you pointed it somewhere else, Brazilian feminine football has big problems as far as its championship is concerned and that can't be without any consequences on the national team.
It is written in the post that this Thaisinha is playing for "Win/PE"... What's that ? Does "PE" mean Peru ?? She's likely (if she proves to be very good, of course) to move to Sweden or Germany or Usa, as you say. But that would be a nice thing to find a new star of feminine football at the Olympics, wouldn't it ?
So, any Brazilian girl or boy to tell us something about this young player ?
If her agent has any sense, the young lady should go either to Lyon or to a Japanese club. Germany? Who would voluntarily go to play in Germany? Oh, I see, to win the CL. If I were the lass I would go to Portugal, where they speak her language, and move the Portuguese ladies from the stage scenery and scene wings into centre stage. What profits it a young lady ... but for a German club?!

Permalink Reply by Izzy on July 12, 2012 at 0:12 Centro Olimpico is a team and they are investing a lot in women's soccer
Maurine, Erika, Rosana, Debinha, Gabriela, Thais Picarte, Calan, Chú and others good players are playing there this year.
Vitoria is a brazilian team from Pernambuco State (PE-Brazil)
Last season played there: Thaisinha, Beatriz, Ketlen, Thais Picarte, Thorun and Dora Maria (both Island-WNT players) and their coach was Kleiton Lima.
Brazil actually has 5 good teams:
São José FC (Formiga, Francielle, Bagé)
Vitória (Thaisinha, Ketlen, Bia)
Centro Olimpico (Maurine, Erika, Debinha, Rosana (ex-Lyon), Thais Picarte (ex-Vitória), Gabriela, Janaína)
15 de Piracicaba (Yoreli Rincon, Andrea (both colombian WNT players)
Foz Cataratas (Bruna, Renata Costa, Bárbara, Daiane Moretti)
if u want more information about brazilian teams, u should have a look here: http://www.womenssoccerunited.com/group/copa-do-brasil-de-futebol-f...
Thaisinha is a good player, but Glaucia and Debinha are better than her.
Thaisinha have a lot of fans in Brazil, because her style. It's a shame that Barcellos didnt call their both Debinha and Glaucia.... Grazi is old and never had played well in Brazil-WNT, so she is not a good sub.
Debinha and Glaucia should be the best choices to subs Marta and Cristiane.
Permalink Reply by Gromit on July 12, 2012 at 9:55 Thanks a lot, Izzy for all those infos and your personal opinion.
I took notice of Glaucia and Debinha names. Which one is Debinha on the picture of Centro Olimpico ? I could spot Erika (far right, in white), Maurine (front row, far left) and Calan (last row, second from left). I can't see Rosana (was she still at Lyon at the time the pic was taken ?).
On the Vitoria pic, which one is Thaisinha ? Front row, the second from the right ?
Funny that I asked about her, since (maybe more or less at the same time but without knowing it), she played and scored with Brazil in Switzerland after a pretty one-two with... Marta !
You, Izzy, already know it of course, since you posted the video of the match highlights (thanks !) here.
Permalink Reply by Izzy on July 13, 2012 at 0:57 Debinha is in side of Erika, with white shirt and ponytail. Rosana was with Lyon in that time. Thais is the second in the first line, in Ketlen's. side(Ketlen is the girl with red hair and white band in the hair).
Permalink Reply by Gromit on July 13, 2012 at 11:48 Thank you very much, Izzy, for the precisions.
Glaucia and Debinha are not members of the Olympics selection, right ?
Dou you agree with me to say that last year in Germany for the WC, Christiane was not at her best level, comparatively to what she had done at 2007 WC and 2008 OG ? Do you think we'll see the "great" Christiane this summer ?
In your point of view, what are Brazil's weaknesses today ? So, what does the team to have to work hard in order to improve and win the supreme title at last ?
Last question : Has Formiga retired ? I can't find her name in the selection. I found she was an essential player, wasn't she ?
