Great Britain head into their quarter-final against Canada on a massive high after defeating Brazil in their final group game at Wembley Stadium in front of 70,584.
Team GB are having a dream London 2012 Olympic women's football tournament, so far they are undefeated and they have looked comfortable in all of their wins. The squad are experiencing huge support and they are the only team yet to concede a goal!
Canada's progression to the quarter-finals was not so comfortable, they only just made the final eight by qualifying as one of the best third place teams.
Canada's Melissa Tancredi is the current London 2012 Olympic top goalscorer with 4 goals, but Great Britain's Stephanie Houghton is close behind in 3rd place with 3 goals.

Beavers! Forget your colonial past. Look to the future, not least the World Cup in 2015. Go, beavers, go go go!!
Permalink Reply by Gromit on August 2, 2012 at 19:13 Maple syrup or Marmite ?
I prefer the first one on my toasts (nobody in the World but English people can eat Marmite, anyway) but I'll support GB because I think they'll have more chance than the Canucks to beat USA in SF... And I like Kim Little.
The Australians swear by Vegimite. Kim Little, presumably eats haggis and takes a wee dram?
I love giant-killers. Go Beavers, go go go!!!

Permalink Reply by A-Hamm on August 2, 2012 at 20:34 Would normally cheer for Canada since they host the next WWC, but I want to see GB continue on with the big crowds! And either way Canada has shown they can be a contender and fans will snatch up 2015 tickets anyway.
Permalink Reply by Lutendo Morris on August 2, 2012 at 21:20 I'm all behind GB in this one, I think they will beat Canada.

We want the home side in the final. That makes for a good final.

Kelly Smith replaced by Ellen White. A sanction for her missed penalty against Brazil ?
Permalink Reply by A-Hamm on August 3, 2012 at 19:17 Any word yet on what the attendance might be? As long as GB wins they'll at least be in the Bronze Medal match should they lose to the US, so the home team will be around for the full tournament unless Canada wins. Should be close.
