After having watched the video of all goals (the two Korean ones are missing), I'll vote as the best like this (I suppose that everyone could do the same:, that will give the Best Goal of the tournament in progress)

1. Portia Modise (SA). Most spectacular. Of course, it can be argued that the Swedish GK makes a mistake (Lars will repeat it) but, honestly, who could have thought that Modise would do such a shot ? Nothing abnormal that the GK is not on her line when the ball is at 40 meters.

2. Nahomi Kawasumi (Jpn). The collective action is spendid with its two assists, the first penetrating over the defense, the second with a back heel, and to finish a very good shot. Typical from the Nadeshiko. They are back !

3. Gaëtane Thiney. Pure strike from more than 20 meters. Unstoppable. Even by Hope Solo. Football can be simple.

4. Marta's second goal. Because of Christiane's wonderful attack and centre.

5. Aya Miyama. Because scoring with your head when you are small and in a middle of several Canadians, that's just remarkable.

An excellent table. Thank you.

Maybe we should close this table after the group matches are over and the weaker teams are out?  After all, Sweden could have been 7 or 8 goals to nil after 15 minutes, seeing that they hit the woodwork 4 times and none of those went in. OK, as Zlatan said, sometimes it is post in and sometimes it is post out.

I agree with Gromit´s 1 and 2. Indeed, Beckham announced his presence on the stage with one such long-distance lob. It may have been in ghis very first match for Man Utd.

In one sense it does not matter because the greatest lady player to date in the world so far of all time is the Wombat. If I were the manager of Wolfsburg I would go to the chairman (who is also the chairman of VW) and explain that I want to sign this wonderful player because this may the only chance for Wolfsburg to get to let alone do well in the CL. I imagine the meeting playing out something like this.

The manager will have prepared himself maximally, including bringing a brief compilation of the Wombat´s finest moments. He enters the office and after initial pleasantries says: "I want to sign Abby Wambach because ...". Here he is interrupted by the Chairman who says: "Do it". -- "Don´t you want to know why?" -- "After I got your e-mail, I watched some clips last night." -- "How much can I spend?" -- "We will sell a few more beetles if necessary." -- "Oh. Thank you very ..." -- "I am sorry but I have to cut you short. I am expecting a call from the Chancellor. Good luck!"

I would love to see Abby Wambach win the CL, preferably taking an average team all the way. Go to Europe, please Abby!

It hasn't been said yet, I think, but CHRISTIANE has beaten her own record (shared with Birgit Prinz) of goals scored in Olympics ! Her goal against Cameroon is her 11th ! That's why she was so happy and why Brazilian newspapers celebrated her in their today's editions. No doubt that more goals should come for Christiane in those Games...

@Lras : Wambach is certainly one of the best players in the world and the most terrifiant killer, but she is far -to my eyes at least - to have the genius of Marta. The Brazilian was five times elected the Best Player of the year and was only beaten last year by Homare Sawa who did an exceptionnal WC and derserved it. Marta is just in another category, as Messi is for the men.

I Agree with u @Gromit, Marta is in another category. If existed a title of "the big head" Wambach certainly had won, because 99% of her goals she score with her head....but she is a great player...for me the best player from USA. But Sinclair, Marta, Cristiane (when is inspired), Schelin are better players.  I think the USA as a group is perfect... and they have an exceptional goalkeeper for female football standards.  But as a Brazilian ...I am accustomed with the beautiful football and the big stars ... so... I  prefer watch Brazil playing or Sweden than USA.

My better half and I first watched the Wombat in 2003. She was obviously a wonderful talent. Unfortunately, Abby could not play in Beijing because she broke her leg.

It is true that in the world cup Ms Wambach scored all (100%) of her goals with her head but she is actually an all round player. She scores the goals that matter and she never gives up.

When the USA professional league collapsed, Marta came back to Sweden, and interesting choice to make. It reflects positively on Sweden. Marta plays for Tyresö and it looks likely that they will qualify for the CL. Should Tyresö win the CL with Marta, she will have achieved something to add to her career. One assumes that the Olympic gold would be even more satisfying, else she will join the ranks of other greats whom the gold escaped, like Magdalena Forsberg.

Nevertheless, had I the war-chest I would sign both Ms Wambach and Ms Morgan, though if my defense was suspect I would try to get Ms Sister. The signings after this tournament will be a revelation.

Christiane's a great player but under shadowed by Marta. As much as I like Marta, I think if Marta wasn't on the National Brazil team, Christiane would shine. Christiane is a really great player who's under appreciated in my opinion.

I'm so proud of Sinclair, she worked so hard for this!!

Verily.  Ms Sinclair is something else. Had she not been injured in the very first game in 2011, Canada´s fate might have been very different.

A hat-trick at Old Trafford is indeed something for the scrapbook. Maybe the groundsman will dig up a piece of the hallowed turf and send for her to put in her garden? Worth a shot, isn´t it?

Giving a piece of turf to Sinclair ? Good idea, she deserved it. But don't dream. The Olympics officials refused to let Usain Bolt to go away with the 4x100 m relay stick after the World Record...
