The US Women's national team coach Pia Sundhage has announced her 18-player roster for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

 

US Women's National Team have completed their final training camp in preparation for the Olympic Games and today Pia Sundhage has made her final team selection.

 

11 players who were part of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Gold winning US side return for the Pia's 2012 squad.

 

Christie Rampone, the US team captain will play in a record fourth Olympic tournament. 

 

USA are in Group G at the London 2012 Olympics with opponents France, Colombia and Korea DPR. Their opening match is against France on 25th July 2012, here is the full women's football Olympic schedule

 

"It is fantastic to play against three very different playing styles. That means three different preparations and that is challenging and fun. France is a strong team and we have time to prepare for that game with training and by doing scouting." Sundhage told Women's Soccer United.

Pia Sundhage has also named four replacement players: Lori Lindsey (Midfielder),  Jill Loyden (Goalkeeper), Meghan Klingenberg (Midfielder) and Christen Press (Forward).

 

The London 2012 Olympic team selection will be the squad for the upcoming VOLVO Winners Cup tournament in Sweden and the Olympic send-off game against Canada.
