The reigning Olympic champions USA will take on the current World champions Nadeshiko Japan in the London 2012 Olympic women's football Final on Thursday 9th August 2012 (19:45) at Wembley Stadium.

The exciting battle and WWC final replay will take place in front of a massive crowd at a superb football venue. Yesterday FIFA media reported that 83,000 tickets had been sold for the women's football final!

In the semi-finals, Japan beat France 2-1 at Wembley Stadium to progress to the final, the game delivered the fantastic contest we predicted, and although France had the majority of the chances, it was Japan that waited patiently and took the opportunities when they were presented.

For USA it was a semi-final battle (literally!) against CONCACAF rivals Canada at Manchester's Old Trafford Stadium. A game in which the winners USA, only led for 30 secs! An exhilarating match to watch, it was end to end action to the final whistle of extra time. (Alex Morgan scored in injury time making the score 4-3 to put her side through to the final). This game stirred up a lot of controversy surrounding poor decisions from the officials, physical tackles from the teams and reactions after the game - something I am sure we will discuss further.

So what does the final promise? We all remember the exciting women's world cup final, expect another close game from two teams that just never give up! In the most recent game the two sides have met (June 2012), USA beat Japan 4-1 at the Volvo Winners Cup in Sweden.

There is a lot at stake in this match, the prize for winning this epic final is an Olympic gold medal.

Congratulations to Ms Sawa!

Maybe she can take a leaf out of Pernilla Wibergs book who was elected to the IOC at 32 years of age, having retired from competitive skiing.

Thank you for the update Hiroshi.

Shame Sawa couldn't get gold before she retired.

Please let me fill you in on the current situation in Japan.

Sports Hochi claims that Homare Sawa has just decided to retire from Japan's women's national soccer team (the Nadeshiko Japan) and that Homare Sawa is somewhat likely to retire as a soccer player at the end of this season.

In addition, according to Video Research Co., NHK or Japan Broadcasting Corporation recorded a viewer rating of 24.8 percent from 04:55 a.m. until 04:56 a.m. Friday, right after Carli Lloyd made the second goal.

The top audience rating that NHK received will be provided as it becomes available on August 13.

I will keep you updated on how everything goes.

Sad to know that we won't see Homare Sawa, such a great player but also a great Lady, any longer on a field.

She would have deserve to end with a Gold Medal around her neck. 18 years - 18 years ! - with the Nadeshiko... What a career. She, more than any other, led the Nadeshiko from a second zone team to World Champions.

Thank you for everything, Sawa sensei ^o ^

Why are you sad?  We had the pleasure to watch her. She captained her team to lift the World cup and the next year was part of an unfancied team that took the silver (refereeing apart). This year she showed that she could play under another captain. And, always a lady!

Who else has achieved all this? Bobby Moore?

Let us hope that Ms Sawa one day wins the World Cup as a manager to join Mario Zagalo and Franz Beckenbauer.

Meanwhile, let the Japanes erect a statue to her.  Where do you want it to stand, Gromit?

Well, sad for not being able to watch her more, that's all. I haven't been watching her for 18 years with the Nadeshiko.

But well, she deserves to rest and enjoy a new life.

About her statue's erection, on the top of Fuji Mountain maybe ?

Please allow me to update you on the Nadeshiko Japan's situation.

According to Sports Nippon, JFA President Kuniya Daini could get business class seats.

For this reason, finally, the Nadeshiko Japan will be able to return to Japan by flying in business class after the Nadeshiko Japan won the silver medal in the London Olympic Games.

I heartily wish to congratulate the Nadeshiko Japan on becoming first-class passengers for the first time! Hahaha....=(

I Love this Sport sooo much.

Thank you USWNT for Brutally Raped the most "beautyful Game" on Earth.
