Comment by Gromit on October 20, 2012 at 23:04 I totally agree with you @John.
With the win in away pitch for Iceland against Ukraine, it looks like all the Nordic teams will participate in the European Championship 2013 in Sweden. I have hard to see that Ukraine would reverse this in Iceland. If they can not win at home, it's probably over for Ukraine.
1-1 between Scotland and Spain in Scotland gives the Spain a tremendous advantage for the home game. This was probably a result which Spain was happy with. I dare already to congratulate both Iceland and Spain for a place in the European Championships in Sweden. It should be enough for a meltdown of Iceland and Spain, both at home in the next game, If they'll miss the Euro.2013 Now

Comment by Women's Soccer United on September 21, 2012 at 18:42 Thanks John :) There is a small discussion started here. They are interesting fixtures I'm hoping we can get to watch them.
I do not know if you've written about this elsewhere here at WSU. But the draw of the six runners-up in the qualifying groups were as follows ;
Scotland - Spain
Ukraine - Iceland
Austria - Russia
Iceland, Russia and Spain were the three seeded teams and may thus play the return match at home. The first is this weekend October 20 to 21 and the latter 24 to 25 October.
Unfortunately for Scotland, I think that Spain is too strong.
Iceland should win against Ukraine
and Russia against Austria.
Scotland's chance was to play against Russia. Then possibly could Scotland have surprised. But not now.
