Australia Westfield W-League
Melbourne Victory FC 1 – 1 Canberra United FC
Goals From:
Jodie Taylor 20’ (Melbourne Victory)
Michelle Heyman 81’ (Canberra United)
Canberra United's bid to become the first Westfield W-League side to go through a season undefeated remains alive after securing a 1-1 draw with Melbourne Victory
The league leaders only need a draw at home to struggling Adelaide United on January 7 to make history and stay unbeaten after Michelle Heyman's 81st-minute equaliser saw them earn a point against Victory.
Victory captain Jodie Taylor had given her side the lead with a 20th-minute penalty, her eighth goal of a stellar campaign, but Heyman struck a late leveller.
Sydney FC 1 - 2 Newcastle Jets FC
Goals From:
Gema Simon 11’ (Newcastle Jets)
Nicole Bolger 37’ (Newcastle Jets)
Renee Rollason 69’ (Sydney FC)
The Newcastle Jets kept alive their hopes of reaching the W-League finals this season, with a 2-1 win over Sydney FC in Campbelltown on Saturday.
First-half goals to Gema Simon and Nicole Bolger saw the Jets take all three points away from Campbelltown Stadium, despite Sydney pulling one back through Renee Rollason in the second half.
