Glasgow City depart tomorrow (Tuesday 4th Oct) for Reykjavik for the second leg of their last 32 UEFA Women’s Champions League match against Valur Reykjavik of Iceland.
The Scottish champions depart on the 14:20 flight out of Glasgow Airport.
The match takes place on Thursday 6th October at the Hlidarendi Vodafone Stadium, Reykjavik. Kick Off is 4pm local time.
After a 1-1 draw at Petershill Park last Thursday, City Head Coach Eddie Wolecki Black feels his side have everything to play for.
He said, “Our performance and chances in first half last week gives us great encouragement going into this crucial match. In many ways I am glad we need to win, as I feel we perform better when we know plain and simple what we need to achieve from a match. Although we are without our Captain Rachel Corsie, due to work commitments, we welcome back Jo Love and Emma Mitchell, two crucial members of our squad and having them fit for the return leg is a massive boost. We have now won the domestic title again and no matter what happens on Thursday, we know we are back playing Champions League football again, which is a great boost going into the game. Last Thursday was a big pressure match for the girls, with family, friends and media all focused around Scotland’s first ever women’s Champions League match. On Thursday, the players can get away from all of that and focus only on winning, which I strongly feel we can do.”
