The merseyside derby lived up to its reputation with an exciting end to end battle that finally ended in a 3-3 draw.
As mentioned in the WSU match preview for this game, Everton headed into the contest as favourites having previously finished second in the FA Women's Premier League National Division whilst Liverpool competed in the Northern Division.
Everton were the more dominating side in the first half and as predicted Natasha Dowie was causing the Liverpool defenders problems. Dowie did put the ball in the back of the net early on in the first half but it was ruled offside.
Just minutes before the halftime whistle, Dowie scored a header from a Jody Handley cross to put Everton ahead. A devastating blow for Liverpool right before the break.
Second half, and it only took Liverpool brought the game back level with a goal from Cheryl Foster, a stunning goal to bring the reds back into the game.
Everton restored the lead 10 minutes later with a goal from Jill Scott. The excitement continued as the home side brought the game back level to 2-2 after 3mins with a goal from Nicky Harding
Natasha Dowie has another goal ruled offside as Everton search for the winner.
In the 90th minute, we thought we saw the match winning goal from Liverpool when Ruesha Littlejohn put the ball in the back of the net from close range to make it 3-2.
However, in injury time Natasha Dowie strikes again after a Fara Williams free kick was deflected and landed in Dowie's path!
The game finally ended in a 3-3 draw, after an exciting, competitive match in front of 835 fans at Skelmersdale United
