The FA confirm plans for the development of the Women’s Super League, with more developments expected in June.
The FA have today confirmed that new FA WSL licenses will be offered to the eight current FA WSL clubs for the 2013 season, whilst plans are being discussed to open the league from 2014 onwards.
These plans include exploring the introduction of a second tier FA WSL operating in 2014.
After a successful first season, The FA WSL has begun planning for its future development. The FA Board will review a new FA WSL business plan that will outline the future shape of the league from 2014-2017, including its integration within the top tiers of the women’s game in England.
The FA anticipates this review will be completed by June 2012 and will confirm the position when the review is completed.

Permalink Reply by Asa on February 14, 2012 at 15:01 Do not see why a Second tier might be added to the WSL ?
We have a great set up with the Women's Premier,Southern and Northern Leagues and the Combination leagues of the Midlands, South-West, Northern and the South-East.Why not have the two teams that finish 1st ans 2nd in the Women's Premier,Southern and Northern League, let them play in a mini tournament and the winner moves into the FA WSL,and the team that finishes in bottom place of the Women's Super League moves into their place in the Premier league.
