A new record was set on Twitter during the Women's World Cup Final between Japan and USA. 7,196 tweets per second were recorded during the exciting women's World Cup Final, further confirming the global interest in the women's game.
Long term broadcasters and supporters of women's football have known about the quality of women's football around the World and together we have been trying to raise the profile and awareness so that the matches/tournaments can be more widely accessed. At this World Cup, we saw a huge improvement, with the amount of TV coverage broadcasting the games live, so a wider audience were able to enjoy the tournament.
Another great success to add to the long list of positives from the women's World Cup in Germany 2011.
