Nadeshiko Japan

It’s official! Asako Takakura-Takemoto becomes first female head coach of Japan women’s national team.

Asako Takakura-Takemoto has been appointed as Japan Nadeshiko team head coach, making her the first woman to take the senior role.

Asako was tipped to be favourite to take the managerial role following Norio Sasaki’s departure after a disappointing Olympic qualifying campaign.

Takakura brings to the team a lot experience and success, she was the coach of the Japan U17 team who won in 2014. She now manages both Japan U20 and U23 teams! Her U23 team has just won all three matches in La Manga (against Norway, Sweden and Germany.) And her U20 team will compete in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in November.

Japan are scheduled to take on USA in two international friendly matches on the 2 and 5 June 2016.
