Great to make a connection with this fantastic site for women's soccer. I am currently coaching in China and from what I have seen in the league here if they get things right the China Women's soccer could really be a world force again. In 1999 they lost to the USA in the World Cup Final but since then it's been a fairly disappointing period with the National team failing to qualify for the first time for the World Cup in Germany last year and again failing for the first time to go to the Olympics in London this year.

They recently played in the Algarve Cup finishing 9th but with a very young squad. They finished with a 1-0 victory but lost the Group games all 0-1 and only lost to a penalty v eventual winners Germany finishing the game with 9 players. They are trying to play football the right way with a technical approach and if the coach can get good support from the CFA the future could be bright.

I can keep you updated about the Women's League which starts On April 8th. The way it's done here is different to Europe each team plays each other twice so with 16 teams a total of 30 games are played by each club. It's not actually a home and away league because the country is so huge so what happens is each team plays 10 Rounds of games with 3 games in 5 days each Round. You play 3 times(Rounds) in your own city but 7 Rounds outside in other cities.

The best team last season was Shanghai they won the League and FA cup double. The coach is a famous ex player called Sun Wen and she has a great philosophy on how to play the game with her team playing attacking football passing the ball really well at times.

The League could be quite competitive this year and hopefully produce some new young players.

Hope we can stay in touch

Don
