The International Language

As stated in previous posts, I hate math. I'm so bad at it, I read 1984 and I put the book down convinced that in some cases 2+2=5. However, my teachers, instructors, and others tried to convince me that mathematics was indeed the international language. All countries, all people understood numbers and knew that they could relate to one another with it. I still aruge that if that is the case then why we have conversion issues between borders makes no sense to me.

I say all of…

Dear Red Stars Fans, After exhausting our options late last night, unfortunately the Chicago Red Stars will not be part of Women's Professional Soccer in 2011. We simply do not have sufficient funds and have not found enough new investors to allow us to commit to 2011. We know you are angry and…

So cold my thoughts are even slowing down...

So...I'm sitting in a hotel in Omaha, Nebraska (population: 400,000). My cousin decided to get married this weekend, so I've braved the elements and have decided to make the drive to Omaha. I'm now stuck in a blizzard, the wind has dropped the temperature outside to roughly -10 degrees F (I'll let you Celcius folks to the converting. I've got a few hours to burn before the reception/party of night begins (this is why I will not be writing tomorrow). Because of this, it's wise to get you…

Opportunistic Towards An Oasis and Other Oddities

I'm better now.

That of course in reference to this past weeks ideas and speculations of World Cup bids, followed by voting, awarding and leaving the US sitting in the corner like the nerd with no date.

There is a time and a place to be upset with moments like that, usually...regardless of age it involves being on the internet and right after the awkward moment…

World Cup Reactions/Opinions

The clouds got a little darker inside the United States of America today, or at least the clouds of my living place. The FIFA World Cup locations were announced for 2018 and 2022 just a few moments ago.

2018: Russia

Once it was leaked that England was knocked out in the 1st round, it became clear that Russia was going to walk away with it. With their enormous size and wealth they were too favored by FIFA, Putin's pouting didn't turn them away, so now the World…

Early World Cup Thoughts

7:30am CST: It's 7:30am here in the center of the United States. Way...WAY too early for myself to get up, however, I am awake thanks to my wife, and I've got a few hours before the bid is underway. Today we're going to learn the host countries for the 2018 and 2022 Men's FIFA World Cup. I have primary interest in this because the USA is indeed a front running canidate for 2022. Let's take a real quick look at those who are in the running for each World Cup, and hopefully at the end of this…
