A Kick In The Grass: WPS Week 6

Thank you US Women's National Team and USSF for allowing us to find the future stars of the world's beautiful game. Due to call up for the Japan/US friendly on Saturday the WPS was limited to two games, but promised an interesting, and pleasant surprise down in the land of dixie [known as the southeastern US].

Boston Breakers 2:3 Western New…

A Kick In The Grass: WPS Week 5

On a loaded Mother's Day weekend the WPS teams took to the field on Friday and Sunday [curious thing about the whole Saturday bit] to hopefully bring the joy and action to mothers all around...[yeah, that was sadly cheesy...on with the score report...].

Flash 3:1 Sky Blue FC

Per usual it makes no surprise to many…

A Kick In The Grass: WPS Week 4

The WPS showed its true form this weekend, cramming in all three games, comprising of all six teams into a little less then 8 hour section of your Sunday.

What did we learn?

The Flash will win the whole thing.

Shocking.

magicJack 2:1 Philly

Down into the humid, murk that is Florida, magicJack…

Weekly Wrap: Loose Connections

It's the connections that truly bring us all together...

Earlier this week I was able to speak with Ashley Morrison about her recent documentary project "No Apologies Required". A film focusing on two women of aboriginal decent making it into the big leagues, literally, by playing for the Australian national team in the 2011 Women's World Cup. Be sure to check out this extremely informative, always lengthy, conversation…

A Kick In The Grass: WPS Week 3

Ah!

Some days I merely nash my teeth at the television screen, stomp my feet, send off a angry Tweet and curse at the soccer gods.

"WHY CAN'T YOU GIVE WOMEN'S SOCCER A BREAK!?!? IT'S A GOOD GAME!"

Needless to say my attempts of communications have gone unheard and unchanged, but this weekend proved once again that the WPS is alive, and while behind the curtains all may not be well, we know this much about the players...

...they are beyond…

Weekly Wrap: The Rest of U.S.

Many times over I find myself drooling over the WPS, speaking of playes, looking into the future, and dreaming of what could be.

However, several times over I forget about the rest of the world around me. There is the look and flash of women's professional soccer, but behind the curtain [as many of us understand by now] we know that the WPS isn't necessarily the most financially feasible creation in our time [though loads better then WUSA was], and that several times over it has…

A Kick In The Grass: WPS Week 2

And to think that I had Sky Blue all figured out...

Fail.

Atlanta Beat 1: NJ Sky Blue FC 0

In what was already assumed to be a blowout by many [including this writer], Sky Blue was to take the easy path down easy street against an easy, underqualified, overly beaten by Boston, Atlanta...Beat.

The…

A Kick In The Grass: WPS Week 1

Greetings Programs!

If I didn't give you a completely worthless greeting, like one from Tron: Legacy, you wouldn't pay attention [or perhaps you would]. Welcome to KitG [still working on it], a small piece I'm aiming to do weekly with the WPS season [thinking about moving it to Monday. While not nearly as lengthy as the "Weekly Wrap", it does aim to be informative on what was the here and the now from the events over the weekend. Granted, per usual, it will be through my own…

AN INJURY time goal from Fayza Hidar Elnady lifted Egypt to a 1-0 victory over Jordan last night in their concluding group 'B' match of the Women's Football Cup Arabia 2010.

Just as the tightly contested game appeared to be headed for a goalless draw, Elnady struck from close range literally seconds before the final whistle, stunning the Jordanians who… Continue
