National Women's Soccer League: Outside Looking In

If there is a truth of consistency among women's soccer in the United States it is simply this; inconsistency.

In the past months and weeks we, the women's soccer world, have been brought to hype, the boiling point, and introduced to the newest rendition of what women's soccer can look like in the North America: the National Women's Soccer League [I would link their name, but there isn't a…

kcSHOCK: Social Media Innovation-A Challenge

Greetings,

To the women's soccer world, I have missed you dearly! I've learned that within creating a new brand with a brand new program; time tends to be the one thing I never have enough [this is easily balanced out by the amount of questions I field on a weekly basis].

The Kansas City Shock, the first premier's women's soccer program in Kansas City, Missouri/Kansas continues to move with full steam ahead. I was pleased that we were able to announce a few weeks ago that we've…

kcSHOCK: July 2012 Update

From the comforts of northwest Missouri I write to you, the world of women's soccer; those engaging in growing the beautiful game.

How I've missed this template.

In recent months I've embarked on a rather exciting, heart stopping adventure named merely as: the Kansas City Shock. Kansas City, Missouri/Kansas [there are two separate cities] is home to one of the top venues of soccer specific stadiums [Livestrong Sporting Park] and one of the top MLS programs in the United States;…

WPSL: Second Gear [#WPSLKC]

It happened.

It finally happened.

Frankly, around three thirty my time this afternoon I received some news [via Twitter of course] that the Boston Breakers and Western New York Flash will be partaking in part of the newly created 'Elite' Division of the Women's Premier Soccer League.

For the moment we're going to disclose this 'tier' as semi-professional.

Am I the only one…

WPSL: Part 3B "Metro League"

I don’t call it a ‘pitch’, I call it a field. I don’t say ‘nil’, I say ‘zero’. Football is for the knuckle-draggers in the NFL; I like soccer.

However, like many from the roots of their lives; I also have a strong passion for where I grew up, where I lived, what I currently call ‘home’.

Kansas City.

I say this due to the recent investment of time [and eventual capital] into a future Women’s Premier Soccer League [WPSL] team in the ‘City of Fountains’. While I am just…

WPSL...WHAT!?!?

I do not make this stuff up again.

Blow off your cobwebs. Get that kink out of your neck and focus your eyes.

I'm developing a secret.

A secret that I'm sharing merely with the lovely folks of WSU.

After talking to some of the individuals of the area, and with the NSCAA Convention and the WPS draft being within the region. This much has been concluded.

Kansas City needs a women's soccer team.

So, after reading way too many by-laws and the…

So cold my thoughts are even slowing down...

So...I'm sitting in a hotel in Omaha, Nebraska (population: 400,000). My cousin decided to get married this weekend, so I've braved the elements and have decided to make the drive to Omaha. I'm now stuck in a blizzard, the wind has dropped the temperature outside to roughly -10 degrees F (I'll let you Celcius folks to the converting. I've got a few hours to burn before the reception/party of night begins (this is why I will not be writing tomorrow). Because of this, it's wise to get you…

Do Not Despise Small Beginnings

I was inside a high school science classroom. I was substitute teaching for a individual that was worn out and just needed a break from the kids that comprised this school of 250 students. I was happy to fill for her (afterall I was getting paid), and enjoy my day with students and faculty alike.

Students will be students.

Teachers though, they are entertaining. I spent lunch with them on Friday and listened to them discuss the future of their school, the budget…

Big League Expectations with a Small School Mentality

I live in the Midwest, meaning the middle of the United States for those who haven't got that yet, and because of the unique atmospheric qualities we have some...questionable weather.

Blizzards: Insane snow storms involving whiteout conditions and winds blowing at 56 mph or greater

Ice Storms: Ice gathering on powerlines, roads, and everything resulting in loss of power, heat, and can cripple the largest city.

Freezing temperatures: Last winter I witnessed -25 degrees F for…
