kcSHOCK: Running Away?

Greetings,

I want to take a brief moment and ask this simple question:

Does anyone else remember when there was a simple though of creating a women's premier soccer team in the Kansas City area?

You too?

A year ago I would have never believed the Kansas City Shock would have been a reality, cruising through Kansas City, talking shop, and dreaming big. I would not have imagined that we would have become so big that our tryout…

kcSHOCK: Excelled

*Deep Breath*

*Count To Three*

*Repeat*

You would not believe how many time, the moment I wake up, I have to go through this process, follow by this simple question:

Is this real life?

Several months ago I embarked on an endeavor  a challenge, a goal; to develop women's soccer at the premier level in the City of Fountains; known commonly as Kansas City.

Versus coastal cities in the United States, and…

New women's professional soccer league has announced its formation in the U.S to begin play in spring of 2013

Three former WPS clubs -- the Boston Breakers, Chicago Red Stars and Sky Blue FC -- are among the clubs set for the launch of a new yet-to-be-named professional women’s soccer league that will start play in the spring of 2013. A newly formed team in Seattle is also among the founding members. Four other teams, including another team that will be located on the West Coast, are finalizing plans to join the league.

“All these teams are…

Weekly Wrap: WUSA--->WPS--->??

Two down...

One to go...

To probably 90% of the individuals who pay attention to women's soccer in the United States, the discussion of the end of the WPS [Women's Professional Soccer] may have came to a surprise to...no one.

With a league in legal battles with a former owner, teams folding left and right over the years, and a 'national' league only existing along the east coast; it was only time before this program was pulled from life support.

That time was this…

Rising above, daring to be different, and building a legacy.

*A Moment of Silence for the WPS*

...

...

...

...and...it's over.

That's exactly the primary thought currently existing in the minds of several after The Soccer Wire came out earlier today discussing the soon-to-be defunct Women's Professional Soccer. Honestly, I doubt several…

WPSL: Second Gear [#WPSLKC]

It happened.

It finally happened.

Frankly, around three thirty my time this afternoon I received some news [via Twitter of course] that the Boston Breakers and Western New York Flash will be partaking in part of the newly created 'Elite' Division of the Women's Premier Soccer League.

For the moment we're going to disclose this 'tier' as semi-professional.

Am I the only one…

WPSL: Part 3B "Metro League"

I don’t call it a ‘pitch’, I call it a field. I don’t say ‘nil’, I say ‘zero’. Football is for the knuckle-draggers in the NFL; I like soccer.

However, like many from the roots of their lives; I also have a strong passion for where I grew up, where I lived, what I currently call ‘home’.

Kansas City.

I say this due to the recent investment of time [and eventual capital] into a future Women’s Premier Soccer League [WPSL] team in the ‘City of Fountains’. While I am just…

WPSL: Part 3A "City of Fountains"

Did you know, second only to Venice, Italy; Kansas City, Missouri has the most fountains in the world? Hence the nickname ‘City of Fountains’; while it can be easy to be caught up in the several different cross-cultural experiences of the metropolitan area, this final post; out of a three part series designated to the WPSL, expansion, and the idea of women’s soccer reaching into the center of the United States.

This final piece is designated to be focused aim right at the development…

WPSL: Part 2 "The Great Plains Division"

As was discussed in Part I of this piece on the WPSL and the future of women’s soccer, for all intents and purposes, the WPS is no longer with us [at the moment, at least]. So, we choose to focus on what is left, our resources and potential capital, and potential future.

This tends to revolve around the WPSL [Women’s Premier Soccer League]. Primarily because it is a larger…

WPSL: Part 1 "Unforeseen Expansion"

In recent weeks we’ve watched the top tier program of women’s soccer in the United States, follow suit to its predecessor, and stall operations for the 2012 year. For some people out there in the soccer world this was not surprising, and for some media outlets [pause for station identification: ESPN] it was sadly, expected.

However, while many decided who to blame, point fingers at, and just exclaim through articles upon articles of random, borderline worthless jargon, I’m here to…

WPSL...WHAT!?!?

I do not make this stuff up again.

Blow off your cobwebs. Get that kink out of your neck and focus your eyes.

I'm developing a secret.

A secret that I'm sharing merely with the lovely folks of WSU.

After talking to some of the individuals of the area, and with the NSCAA Convention and the WPS draft being within the region. This much has been concluded.

Kansas City needs a women's soccer team.

So, after reading way too many by-laws and the…

To Whom It May Concern

In recent weeks, as we're all aware, several steps backwards have been taken in respect towards the growth of Women's Professional Soccer inside the United States. As a hopeful, die-hard fan, like many others I have taken to the keyboard and addressed my concerns to the United States Soccer Federation. Below is a copy of that message:

To Whom It May Concern:

Rest assured that I have spent countless nights telling myself not to write to the United States…

KitG: WPS Turns Back On MagicJack

So many tabs...

So many tabs...

I'm sitting at my computer, thinking where to start with this insanity that we call the beautiful game [let's be honest, life is a giant circus, yes?].

Ok.

*deep breath*

It all started in Florida...

Terminated

Let's just be honest, even though the team was great, how many of us are NOT surprised that magicjack was terminated by the WPS earlier last week…

Weekly Wrap: The Cost

*Rubs fingers along his temple trying to understand*

Last weeks issue of "Weekly Wrap" designated the choice of stating that if women athletes are going to jump through hoops of the media world in order to get their name out; when will the time come to get on television? How much press does a league need in order to establish itself inside the United States.…

Weekly Wrap: Represent

Did you ever have one of those moments in your head that you thought long and hard on, wanted to say something, but decided against it?

I did alright up until deciding not to do something about it.

The Body:

Let's just start with the theme of the week, flavor of the month, and image of women's sports.

The body.

Recently ESPN released its ever famed 'The Body' issue from its magazine stands. Inside this…

Weekly Wrap: Seasonal Changes

With my re-found [made up word] love of the autumn in northwest Missouri upon us, I realized yesterday that I was sunburned and sweating from the heat outside. Today, I woke up, walked outside, and felt a nice, large, beautiful, damp leaf slap me in the face.

Welcome back autumn...

Naturally, I'm enjoying my time of harvest, grain silos, and tractors taking up both lanes of the road along the towns that I reside in on a day-to-day basis. However, the other 'unique' thing about…
