Because they are in the OFC they have a great chance to be in the World Cup 2015. Australia used to be in the OFC but switched because they wanted greater competition. I am not sure whether it was a request from the men's or women's but given the fact that the men's faction carries greater weight ( at least that is my guess).

My bad. SHOULD have kept the thought to myself after all, lol. We don't get much soccer coverage here in the US so I'm not as up on the info as I should be.

The kiwis are in the OFC which they always win given the competition they face.

The Kiwis are not in the AFC.

I didn't want to comment before on the team I thought would go in that open slot Korea DPR left open because I thought the team was a dark horse and didn't feel like a debate at the time, lol. Now, after the Kiwi's win over China, I'm going out on a limb and saying they're one of the contenders from AFC.

For the 5th choice from the AFC I would have to pick Thailand. They seem to be improving quite a bit.

That's not too bad at all. I guess the good performance of Mexico helped CONCACAF get 3.5 spots, because the 4th team in CONCACAF is really weak.

Good to see Europe recognised for their strength in depth, too.

Good prediction @Crystal. I would go with your selection... The only thing is Korea DPR are banned from playing in this World Cup because of the players failing drug tests at Germany 2011, more details here

Lars--It's probably similar to the men's WC in that the defending champions do NOT have an automatic berth in the tournament; only the host team does. This means that the champions must compete for a slot like everyone else.
