190,000 tickets sold for Women's World Cup 2011 in Germany!

190,000 tickets sold through 47,000 City Series packages - encouraging sales figures with 12 days to go until the end of the first sales phase for FIFA Women's World Cup 2011™ tickets. "I'm convinced that we'll have surpassed the 200,000 mark by 31 January," said Steffi Jones at the OC's New Year Event in Frankfurt on Tuesday. Due to the positive response to the Venue Specific Tickets (VST), the DFB and OC will be continuing with the sale of the City Series tickets. "The City Series tickets have been a resounding success in our view. We didn't know how people would react at the start of the first sales phase on 29 October, but thanks to the excellent response, we'll be keeping the City Series tickets available beyond 31 January and indeed as long as the demand is there. Obviously this is an important commitment by the DFB to the regions which will be hosting the first-ever Women's World Cup in Germany," said DFB General Secretary Wolfgang Niersbach.

A further 25,000 Venue Specific Tickets are expected to go on general sale. More cannot be offered due to the fact that all City Series tickets in Category 4, as well as the Frankfurt City Series ticket which includes the Final on 17 July 2011, are already overbooked.

The second sales phase begins with the women's international friendly match between Germany and Korea DPR on 17 February and runs until 30 June 2010. During this period, the 20ELEVEN tickets will go on sale for both the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011 and the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup 2010, giving groups of 11 people a 20 per cent discount.

The 20ELEVEN tickets are available exclusively in the categories 3 and 4. Tickets can be ordered via the internet on http://www.fifa.com/germany2011
