Bristol Academy WFC are on the way to Europe!

Bristol Academy's Semi Final win in Sunday's FA Women's Cup, mean they will be representing England at the women's Champions League.

A fantastic achievement for Bristol Academy who cruised to victory with a 3-0 win over WSL rivals Liverpool ladies and made club history. Goals came from Fishlock, Heatherson and Bleazard.

After a disappointing 4-0 defeat for Bristol in their opening fixture of the WSL away to Birmingham, they responded in the best way possible. Showing great team spirit and resilience they knew what they had to do on the day and they were rewarded for all their hard work.

The Semi Final win has booked Bristol a place in the final on Saturday 21st May 2011, where they will face Barnet or Arsenal. The Barnet v Arsenal semi final takes place next weekend, and the winner of that tie also books a place in Europe after a vital change in how England's representives in next years Champions League will be decided.

As the Women's Super League does not finish until September, it has been decided that the two teams that reach the FA Women's Cup Final will be the ones representing England at the Champions League.

Bristol will need to focus back on domestic duties as they now have to face Liverpool again on Saturday, this time for the WSL. They will be looking to repeat their recent performace against the reds to stamp their mark on the new league.
