Only 3 days until the launch of a brand new International women's football tournament kicks off in Turkey. The 2011 International Women's Tournament Of Champions, Alanya, Turkey (Thursday 17th March 2011) is an exciting new tournament and a great global women's football development.
We will witness another women's football first as the tournament invites four of the best women's football clubs in the World to compete. And the icing on the cake...... the tournament is providing unprecedented TV coverage. Fans will be able to follow the tournament live from around the World (in HD) on major tv broadcasting channels including Fox Soccer Channel, Eurosport 2, Eurosport Asia-Pacific and more.
The tournament is a great idea, a chance to see how teams from around the World compete against each other. This will be a great insight into the strengths and weaknesses of clubs from different leagues and whether there is a large gap between the skill level from one league to another.
With the coverage the tournament is providing, I am sure and hope it is a success. If so, more teams from leagues around the World maybe invited to compete in future tournaments?
The clubs competing in this years tournament (kicking of Thursday 17th March) are:
USA WPS: Sky Blue FC, view website
