Olympique Lyon beat holders Turbine Potsdam 2-0 to become Women's Champions League Winners 2011!

Goals from Renard and Dickenmann give Lyon a well deserved women's Champions League Final win at Craven Cottage, London.

The two teams met in last season's Champions League final, where Potsdam took the crown in a heartbreaking penalty shootout. Lyon were determined not to suffer the same misfortune two years running.

Lyon took the lead in the 27th minute, after a corner caused a goalmouth scramble, Renard was able to get her foot to the ball to stick it in the back of the net to take the lead.

Lyon continued to look the more dominating side for the rest of the first half, maybe the absence of top scorer Yuki Nagasato, who is out with a knee injury, contributed to the lack of threat in Potsdam's attack. 

Potsdam came out strong in the opening minutes of the second half, a chance fell for Inka Wesely put she was unable to direct her header on target. For Lyon the fast pace of Thomis continued to be a threat as she was sent clear but could not get the power into her final shot.

Potsdam continued to search for the equaliser, Bajramaj (who was playing her final game for Potsdam before joining 1.FFC Frankfurt) was working hard to create chances for her team and came close as one of her crosses to Kerschowski almost gave them the equaliser but it was stopped by the feet of Bouhaddi. 

Lyon continued to push forward and in the 85th minute, Lyon substitute Dickenmann scored to make it 2-0 after fellow substitue Le Sommer provided the looping ball assist.

Worthy Champions Lyon celebrated in front of 14, 303 at Craven Cottage and they now become the first French side to be crowned female European club title winners!
