Theo Paphitis presents award to Women’s Soccer United

We have had a very exciting and busy few weeks at Women’s Soccer United, in fact just a few weeks ago we were meeting and receiving an award from successful businessman and BBC’s Dragon Theo Paphitis!

Women’s Soccer United are honoured to win the SBS award from Theo Paphitis, who recognised the hard work that goes into promoting women’s football to a large global audience.

Winning the award was more than enough for WSU, but it didn’t stop there! A couple of the WSU Team members were invited to the inaugural SBS event (sponsored by Ryman, wasn’t it Kyp?) at the Edgebaston Cricket Stadium in Birmingham.
We were treated to a wonderful day; we got to meet other winners and share our business experiences with each other. You could feel the excitement in Edgebaston and you knew every winner was extremely grateful for the opportunity they had been given by Theo Paphitis.

In the afternoon we all sat down for a seminar where we were introduced to Ryman Group Chief Executive Kypros Kyprianou (Pictured Right) before Theo Paphitis took to the stage. Theo’s speech was motivational, informative and with great humour; he explained his ideas for SBS and the many benefits for the winners. Theo gave us a great insight into how he started his business enterprise working from just one room in his flat, which gave us inspiration as to what can be achieved. We also were introduced to Chris Wheeler who built the new exclusive website and has been very helpful. Theo then took the time to meet each winning business and present them with their award.

Gina West said: “Women’s Soccer United was launched as a fully dedicated worldwide women’s football website/online community, the WSU team and our members work many hours to provide coverage on tournaments, leagues and host high profile player interviews/blogs. It was fantastic to have the support from Theo Paphitis who recognised our hard work and helped spread the word about what we do.”

Women’s Soccer United has been successfully bringing the women’s football world together for years by providing a platform to help reduce differences in football standards around the world. WSU fight for recognition and equality and are committed to inspiring and creating opportunities for females to get actively involved in the women’s game.
Women’s Soccer United sees the fantastic work players, clubs and fans do for the women’s game, and we want to thank our member’s/twitter followers/facebook fans again for the amazing women’s football content and support you bring from all around the World, we are extremely grateful! We will continue to work and grow together to break down the boundaries that surround the women’s game and remember.... PASSION.DEDICATION.BELIEF.

Women’s Soccer United would like to thank Theo Paphitis again for the amazing opportunity he has given us. We would also like to thank Ryman Stationery for their contribution putting on a fantastic event for the business winners and for their continued support since.

Since receiving this award we have been given many exciting new opportunities to raise the profile of Women's Soccer United and our aims of growing the women's game around the world through various media outlets including TV, radio and newspapers. We will keep you updated during this exciting journey...

Well, well... I just found that... And that's really a find :o))

Even if it's almost 7 months too late (I have the excuse to have registered on WSU 5 months ago only), I want to add my voice to all the congratulations made at the time. WSU and you Gina, and Asa fully deserve all possible awards :o)  Awards and many, many thanks going with them from all Women's Football lovers !

Well done from me, too. Women's football is thriving because of social network sites like WSU. Newspapers and other media, by and large, still see the sport as marginal and only report the bigger matches. It's great to have instant, up-to-date and infomed comment from you and even greater that your efforts have been recognised.
