USA Women's National Soccer Team to play Canada WNT in two International Friendlies this September

It has been announced that Canada women's National soccer team will play USWNT in two International friendly matches in September.

The matches will take place on American soil on Saturday 17th September 2011 in Kansas City and Tuesday 22nd September 2011 in Portland. Both matches will be shown on TV, the first fixture on FOX Soccer and the follow up game will be shown live on ESPN2.

This will be both team's first fixtures since the recent women's World Cup in Germany. Canada's World Cup campaign did not go as expected as they failed to progress from the group stage. USA had a more successful campaign making it to the World Cup Final only to be defeated in a penalty shoot-out against Japan.

This will be the 49th and 50th time the two teams have met in history and the US are currently dominating with a 41-3-4 edge. The most recent time the two teams met was during the Four Nations Tournament, where USA won 2-1 in China.

Canada women's National team are still currently searching for a Head Coach after Carolina Morace resigned last month.

The two September fixtures promise to be exciting matches with top class players coming head to head. WPS current leading goalscorer Christine Sinclair will be playing against WNY Flash team-mate Alex Morgan. The fixtures should attract a large crowd as women's soccer popularity continues to grow.
