Jonathan Stein has come up with a great fundraising idea ‘Soccer for the Cure’ to raise money and awareness for breast cancer. Jonathan is trying for the World’s longest pick up soccer game.
Jonathan has always had an involvement in soccer, whilst he was growing up Jonathan’s mum, Sheila Stein was the President of his soccer league and Sheila always encouraged Jonathan to be involved. 33 years later and Jonathan still plays 45 to 50 times per year. In March, Jonathan suffered a personal tragedy losing his mum to breast cancer after a long brave fight. Sheila was first diagnosed back in 1993, she beat it 3 times showing tremendous strength against the disease but unfortunately lost her battle this year. As a way of honouring his mother’s memory, Jonathan came up with the idea ‘Soccer for the Cure’ – a 24-hour non-stop soccer game to raise funds for Susan G. Komen For the Cure
The fundraiser has already had a great response so far, including Shalrie Joseph & Alex Morgan donating a raffle prize.
