Argentina replaces Japan at 2021 SheBelieves Cup, Japan withdraws due to current status of Covid-19

US Soccer has reported that Argentina has replaced Japan in the sixth annual SheBelieves Cup, Presented by Visa, which will be staged from Feb. 18-24 at Exploria Stadium in Orlando, Fla. Argentina now joins host USA, Brazil and Canada.

Japan withdrew from the tournament citing the current status of the COVID-19 pandemic in their country. Argentina will slot into Japan’s schedule and the order of games and kickoff times will not change. Brazil and Canada are confirmed to participate in the tournament.

2021 SheBelieves Cup Fixtures and TV broadcast information

The 2021 SheBelieves Cup will be held slightly earlier than in its previous incarnations due to FIFA’s adjustments to the official fixture dates for 2021.

Brazil and Japan kick-off the SheBelieves Cup 2021 on 18 February at the Exploria Stadium Orlando, Fla. before the hosts USA face Canada in the later game at the same venue.

USWNT are the current holders of this trophy, they’ve won three of the five editions of this competition. Brazil have made one previous appearance in 2019 finishing in 4th position, Nadeshiko Japan have made 2 appearances with their best finish being in 3rd position while Canada are set to make their SheBelieves Cup debut in 2021.

All four nations competing in the 2021 SheBelieves Cup reached the knockout phase of the last FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019 and have all since qualified for the 12-nation Tokyo 2021 Women’s Olympic Football Tournament.
