AFC Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament 2015

The Road to Rio is officially underway as the Rio 2016 Asian Qualifiers Round 1 started on 11 March 2015.

18 teams have entered the qualification tournament, the dream to book their place at the Rio 2016 Olympics. The highest-ranked seven teams received byes, with Australia, China PR, Japan, North Korea, and South Korea received byes to the final round, while Thailand and Vietnam received byes to the second round.

The format of the 2015 AFC Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament is as follows:
First round 11–15 March 2015 (Groups A and B) / 20–24 March 2015 (Group C) – Myanmar, India, Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan, Jordan, Hong Kong, Palestine, Chinese Taipei, Iran, Laos will compete. The winner of Group A, B and C advance to the second round.
Second round 14–22 September 2015 – Five teams will compete (the three winners from the first round join Thailand and Vietnam). The winner will advance to the final round.
Final round – Six teams will compete (Australia, China PR, Japan, North Korea, South Korea and the winner from the second round). The winners and runners-up qualify for the women’s football tournament in the 2016 Summer Olympics.
