Algarve Cup 2022 Five Great Teams take part in new Format


The Algarve Cup 2022 takes place between the 16th and 23rd of February. It will have two stages in the 2022 edition


Due to three positive corona cases in the squad, the Denmark Women’s National Team has withdrawn from the Algarve Cup for the sake of the health of both players and staff.


Denmark’s no-show determines the awarding of three points to the opposing club, as well as a 3-0 victory. In this sense, the Sweden team that should face Denmark this Friday, starts to lead the classification of the tournament, before meeting on Sunday (17:05) the National Team, in a game counting for the second round of the competition.

With this change, the organization of the Algarve Cup informs that, on February 23, there will be two games, both lasting 90 minutes and starting at 11:00 am: the final game (played by the teams with the best scores at the end of the matchday two), at Estádio Municipal de Lagos, and the 3rd place match at Estádio Algarve.
