Netherlands WNT head coach Arjan van der Laan relieved of duties with immediate effect
KNVB has announced today that they no longer require the services of the Netherlands WNT head coach, Arjan van der Laan, as they have insufficient confidence in him.
Netherlands are hosting the UEFA Women’s EURO 2017 Championship in Summer 2017 and they have decided Arjan van der Laan is not the right person to lead their national team.
Arjan van der Laan has been the Netherlands women’s national team head coach since 1 October, 2015.
Technical director Hans van Breukelen said on the KNVB official website: “We want to thank Arjan for his dedication and work. Since his appointment, he has put the first steps in the development of the team towards the European Championships. However, we don’t have enough confidence that he is the right person to guide the team well in the final stage. ”
Assistant coach Sarina Wiegman assume the role of Van der Laan on an interim basis.
