Arjan van der Laan appointed as Netherlands head coach.
Netherlands women’s national football team has today announced the appointment of Arjan van der Laan as their new manager.
Arjan van der Laan has signed a contract which takes effect on 1 October, 2015 and runs until the 2017 UEFA Women’s European Championship in the Netherlands.
Van der Laan said about his appointment on the KNVB website (translated by Google): “It’s an honor to be national coach to get started. The KNVB has the ambition to be present structurally end tournaments and ultimately work towards a place in the top five in Europe. It’s great to be able to contribute to it and I look forward to the first time I’m with the team training. ”
The first big step for Arjan van der Laan and the Netherlands women’s national team is to qualify for the Rio 2016 Olympics. They will compete in a mini qualifying tournament against Sweden, Switzerland and Norway for the one remaining European berth.
