“During the recent camp I was impressed with the quality and standard of football that the girls produced and we certainly have been blessed with having some really good depth to pick from,” said interim coach Alen Stajcic on the Australia football federation website, who recently took the role from Hesterine de Reus.

“We have only been able to work together for a short time since I came in but we implemented some new things at the camp which they responded well to and I’m confident that this squad has the potential to be successful in Vietnam and give the tournament a good shake.”

Versatile defenders Emma Checker and Amy Harrison have been included in the Westfield Matildas’ player register for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2015 which begins in Ho Chi Minh City next week.

Checker and Harrison were added to the list submitted by Westfield Matildas Interim Head Coach Alen Stajcic after the AFC Women’s Committee amended a regulation to allow participating Member Federations (countries) a total of 25 registered players for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2015, two more than the number originally permitted.
