South Africa Banyana Banyana earn historic World Cup qualification
South Africa beat Mali 2-0 in the Africa Women Cup of Nations semi-final to book their place at the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2019.
Thembi Kgatlana and Lebogang Ramalepe scored the goals that secured South Africa Banyana Banyana’s win over Mali which earned them an historic World Cup qualification and a place in the Africa Women Cup of Nations final where they will play Nigeria.
Nigeria beat Cameroon 4-2 on penalties in their semi-final contest to book their place at France 2019. Cameroon and Mali will play the match for third place – the winner of this game will win the final available World Cup berth. Despite coming close to qualifying on previous occasions it was tonight that history was finally made for Banyana Banyana, with a well earned semi-final win over Mali to reach the World Cup.
