Bethany England wins player of the month award.
Bethany England has been voted as the Barclays Women’s Super League Player of the Month for January.
England was in fine form as she netted 4 times in 3 games for Chelsea including a stunning effort in the 4-1 victory over title rivals Arsenal.
In total England has 15 goals across all competitions while she also made her England debut in August and has gone on to score twice in five appearances for the Lionesses.
Chelsea boss Emma Hayes said ‘Beth’s willingness to do absolutely anything for the team, both in and out of possession, makes her a stand out team player.
She has probably been the most improved player in the country over the past two years and fully deserves the recognition she is getting both at club and international level.
‘She is a success story for players when they really apply themselves, even if they are the underdog.’
Hayes also picked up the manager of month after leading the Blues to three consecutive wins over Reading, Bristol City and the Gunners as they sit 3rd a point off the top but with a game in hand.
Chelsea play host to West Ham on Sunday as they hope to continue their fine run of form.
